(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh overcame a second half rally by Young Harris to win its home opener 10-9 at Vasco Field Monday night. The Cavaliers remain unbeaten at 2-0 on the young season while the Mountain Lions drop to 2-6.

The Cavaliers went on a strong start and led 4-1 after Nicholas Castorf (Fr., Holbrook, NY/Sachem) scored unassisted 37 seconds into the second quarter. Young Harris answered with the next two goals to make go down one, but the Cavs scored two before the half to go into the break up 6-3.

After a goal early in the third that put Walsh up 7-3, the Mountain Lions scored four unanswered goals to tie the game. Castorf then took control of the game with a pair of consecutive goals to put Walsh up 9-7 with 11:31 left in the fourth. Alex Hudgens (Fr., South Lyon, MI/HS) then scored his second game-winner in as many games on the assist from Josh Jacobs (Sr., Columbus, OH/Hilliard Darby) with 7:39 left to play.

Castorf scored a game-high four goals while Hudgens scored three for his seventh goal of the year. Mason Axline (Sr., Green, OH/HS) had a strong game all around with two goals, two assists, nine ground balls, and a caused turnover.
